17 Reasons You Shouldn't Ignore Item Upgrading

Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new affixes. They can also improve its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Usually, items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will have to select it and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be as well as the required element or material required to complete the upgrade.

There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For example the addition of the suffix Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however, the materials needed don't increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items, rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's class. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will only have two affixes to choose from, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests, depending on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.

If an item is not able to reach its max level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials, though it will have a lower chance of success.

Engineers may use a level in order to compare the height of the building to an established point, like the benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential part of the game that can improve the strength, damage or other characteristics. This can be done via the item menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for every stat. This could be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the item's power by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.

The game also comes with various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending an excessive amount of money.

Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game faster.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in various ways. They can be of various dimensions, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They also aid in studying patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, while others are not. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons do not boost the stats of the item when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have many weapons or armor pieces already.

Set items can be upgraded to include special functions that are beneficial for certain builds.  item upgrading  is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to parity with the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements of specific items.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their performance. This will also increase the defense of armor with an updated look.
